Frequently Asked Questions — Everything you need to know before coming to Dead Horse

Water baptism is a public declaration that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ.

It symbolizes your identification with His death, burial, and resurrection, and your commitment to follow Him as Lord.

Baptism does not save us. Salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is an act of obedience that publicly declares the new life God has already given us.

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.”

Romans 6:4

Water baptism is for anyone who has repented of their sins and placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus commands every believer to be baptized as an act of obedience and a public testimony of their faith.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

If you have questions or are unsure whether you're ready, our team would be honored to talk with you and help you understand what the Bible teaches.

No.

Church membership is not required.

If you have trusted in Jesus Christ and desire to follow Him in obedience, you are welcome to be baptized.

Yes, if they are old enough to understand the Gospel, have personally trusted in Jesus Christ, and desire to follow Him.

Throughout the New Testament, baptism follows a person's personal faith in Christ.

If you're unsure whether your child is ready, we'd be happy to answer your questions and speak with you at the event.

Many people were baptized as infants because of the sincere faith of their parents or church tradition.

However, throughout the Bible, baptism always follows personal repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

For that reason, many believers choose to be baptized after they have personally trusted in Christ as their Savior. They are not rejecting what their parents did; they are publicly declaring their own faith and obedience to Jesus.

If you plan to be baptized, we recommend bringing:

  • A T-shirt and shorts or other modest clothing to wear in the water
  • A towel
  • A change of clothes
  • Sandals or beach shoes (optional)

If you forget something, don't worry. We'll do our best to help.

You're still invited!

Come worship with us, hear the Gospel, receive prayer, ask questions, and see what God is doing.

There is no pressure to be baptized. We would simply love the opportunity to meet you.

Absolutely.

Whether you're carrying a burden, need encouragement, are seeking healing, or simply want someone to pray with you, our prayer team would be honored to pray with you.

Everyone is welcome.

That's okay! You don't need to know the Bible or have your life together before coming. Everyone is welcome.

Whether you're curious about Jesus, looking for answers, or simply want someone to pray with you, we'd love to meet you.

The baptism will take place at the Dead Horse Clock, located in the center of Dead Horse.

Meet us at the clock.

When you arrive, look for:

  • A large red inflatable arch
  • Live worship music
  • Baptism tents
  • Volunteers ready to welcome you

You won't have to search the beach. Just head toward the red arch and you'll find us!
